Ronnie Offen is a native of
Washington, D.C., and received her early art training in that city. She
was graduated from the Catholic University in Washington with a degree
in art .
Ms. Offen became interested in Oriental
brush painting (Sumi-e) in
1976. She began her studies with Roddy McLean, and then studied with
Pearl Chang and Henry Wo Yue-kee. Ms. Offen participated in and won
several ribbons in shows in the Washington area. She has exhibited with
the National Sumi-e Society in New York and Washington, and has had a
one person show at the Veterans' Administration building in Washington.
While living in Raleigh, NC, Ms. Offen
received awards in a number of
local shows. She then began concentrating on increasing commission
requests, and now has work in private homes and corporations throughout
the country.
It was also in Raleigh that Ms. Offen began
painting in pastels.
She studied with Ann LePere and Luana Winner of Raleigh. She has also
received instruction from nationally known artists Daniel Greene, Carol
Katchen, Sally Strand and Desmond O’Hagan.
Ms. Offen moved to the Atlanta area in
1991. She is a merit member of
the Atlanta Artists Club and member of excellence of the Southeastern
Pastel Society, and a member of the Plein Air Painters of Georgia. She
has displayed with these groups and won awards at many of their shows.
Her work has also been shown by the Pastel Society of North Florida,
the Pastel Society of the West Coast, the Pastel Society of America,
and the Marietta/ Cobb Museum of Art.
