About PAPGA
History
PAPGA met to paint together on location for
the first time in May of 1998 and have been going strong ever since.
Their initial mission to paint Georgia scenes in plein air continues to
be their main emphasis. Georgia is a beautiful state with a variety of
landscape options for the plein air painter. Our group is small and we
paint individually as well as on group outings.
Landscape artists through the ages have
painted en plein air, the
Impressionists are the most obvious example.
Like the Impressionists, some of our artists paint exclusively
from life or on location, while others use some plein air work
as a study for larger studio paintings. Whether a studio or a portrait
artist, the lure of the out-of-doors is compelling and an important
teacher in the process of learning to see and understand nature.
