Karen B. Stewart was
born into a Navy family in Kingsville, TX and had her first of many
moves at 6 weeks of age. Perhaps this is what sparked her love of
travel and her wide ranging interests. After graduating from
Texas A & M she taught tennis in Ohio, Texas, and even Monterrey,
Mexico where she met her future husband, Tom, while living in
Montgomery, AL. Karen began dabbling in an old high school love,
art. Another move took them to Charleston, SC where Karen
expanded her interests into a faux-finishing ceiling of the federal
Court House, and teaching finishes on a national level for the Stencil
Artisans League Inc. After her move to Columbus, GA, Karen took
the short leap from walls to
paper and canvas. The maturity of Karen's work belies her short
ten years as a professional painter. She has achieved a level of
excellence in her paintings that most artists do not achieve in a
lifetime. Completely uncontrived, her work honestly
portrays her life and her
travels. She has a creative vision which produces unusual
compositions. Her selection of subject matter is innovative and
she is masterful in any medium. She pushes color to its most
beautiful limit. In combinations that are always fresh and
surprising. Because of her unique perspective,
Karen's works, whether large or
small will offer the viewer lasting enjoyment. Karen shares her home in Columbus with her
husband Tom, two
young daughters, Carly and Alex and a menagerie of pets. |
