A
native of Atlanta, Debra grew up in Charleston, SC, St Augustine, FL
and Savannah, GA. SHe attended the University of Georgia as an art
major and continue her education with nationally know
instructors. She worked in watercolor for 15 years and changed
to pastel which has become her primary medium. Plein Air painting
has sparked an interest in oils which she pursues along with her
pastels. Choosing form a wide
range of subject matter, Debra loves figurative,
landscape, cityscapes and interiors. Her portrait work most often
included extensive landscape painting as she enjoys placing her
subjects in a landscape setting. She enjoys painting on location
and has formed a group called the Plein Air Painter of Georgia whose
main purpose is to get out of the studio and paint scenes around the
state of Georgia. Living in the North Georgia area she is close
to beautiful mountain scenery and frequently paints close to her
home. Debra
is the past
president and signature member of the Southeastern
Pastel Society, a signature member of the Degas Pastel society and a
founding member of the Plein Air Painters of Georgia. Her works
are in corporate and private collection and have been included in many
regional and national competitions. She was Artist of the
Month in the November 1998 issue of Northlight magazine, a national
publication for artists, was featured as a Master Pastellist in the USA
Showcase of the premier edition of the pastel publication, Pastel
Artist International and was included in an article in the July/August
2001 issue of Pastel Journal. Most recently she has exhibited
with the plein- Air Painters of Georgia in various locations around the
state of Georgia. She is represented by Frameworks Gallery in
Marietta, GA, Bobbi Gillis Fine Art Consultants in Atlanta,
Loretta Goodwin Gallery in Birmingham. AL and Vista Gallery in Atlanta,
