Clara Dodd Blalock is a native Atlantan and graduate of
Northside High School. She received an Associate Degree from Stratford
College in Danville, Virginia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from
The Atlanta College of Art. Her major was painting and minor,
printmaking. She was presented the “Best Printmaking Student” award
upon graduation.
Clara has pursued a serious career as a painter for
the last 20 or so years. Her medium is oil and occasionally pastel.
Working daily in her studio in the TULA Art Center in Atlanta, Clara
produces large works in oil that are shown and sold in galleries in
Atlanta, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Boston; Camden, S.C.; Destin,
Jacksonville and Vero Beach, Florida; Evanston, Illinois and Omaha,
Nebraska. Inspiration for many of these pieces comes from on site
painting.
She has won numerous awards for her work has had paintings
juried into many shows in the southeast. She has had several solo
exhibits and has been included in a number of invitational shows.
Clara has presented painting demonstrations for several arts
organizations and private students.
She has served as juror and judge
for shows on the local, regional and national levels.
