My
interest in art
began early in life and I took classes when I could while my children
were at home. In 1985 during
the two years we spent in Swaziland I began painting in earnest
and it was there that I
first painted plein air. My medium then was watercolor and the ladies
of the Swaziland Art Society and I would paint the model or the
beautiful scenery of Swaziland countryside. A unique
and fabulous experience.
Returning home
we moved to Atlanta and there I joined several art groups and
classes. Pastel was then becoming popular and I found it exciting
medium for me. Also I find
myself doing more and more painting on location. It
is an awsome challenge but plein air painting is invaluable for
my studio work.
Through
the years, I have been fortunate to have
many fine teachers and many
friends with whom to paint and opportunities to travel. I
continue to
attend workshops in order to explore the mystery of painting,
especially plein air painting. The more I paint the more I
realize how much more there is to know. And the excitement of
painting is to see how well the the problems were solved.
I am
drawn to all subjects, the expanse of nature, the
complexities of city
scenes,
widlife in their own setting and the
figure at work or play. Whatever I am
painting is my love at that moment. I paint in pastel, oil and
watercolor. |
